NewPipe is a lightweight client for YouTube, PeerTube, Bandcamp, and SoundCloud. It does not use the Google framework or the YouTube API, which means it works without Google services — and even on devices without them installed. Videos and music can be played in the background, in a popup, or downloaded directly for offline use. Subscriptions are stored locally, so no account is needed anywhere. There are no ads and no tracking of any kind. The app is free and open source (GPLv3), community-driven, and receives updates through F-Droid and its own repository. Local playlists, import/export, and a lightweight interface keep it fast even on older hardware.
